Description
The BKCNTRY™ fishing pack is a fully waterproof bomber of a backpack designed for all day comfort. The spacious 25 liter main waterproof compartment is big enough to fit extra clothes, food, safety items and fishing gear and comes with a removable insert to help compartmentalize your small items.
With clip off straps, the pack can be swung around the left or right shoulder so that the dual pass through YKK® water resistant zippered front pocket can be accessed from either side. Complete with rod holder straps, water bottle pockets and comfortable padding and straps this pack is ready for adventure.
So load it up, strap it on, and go for a long hike and fish.
The upgraded version of the BKCNTRY™ waterproof backpack has a horizontal webbing daisy chain with a large loop in the middle and D rings on each side. In addition the pack also now has a shock cord gear tamer on the back to hold small items such as a light jacket, and the water bottle pockets are bigger to accommodate large water bottles like a Nalgene.
Note on the net holder loop in the horizontal daisy chain: We normally use the net holder loop on the back for carrying a larger net long distances (hiking in to a spot). When actively fishing we generally just tuck the net in-between the shoulder straps down the back, where it is more easily accessible and would not interfere with anything strapped to the back of the pack, such as a rod tube. See the last photo in the product image gallery for reference.

This was bought for me as a gift, I would not have chosen it after actually examining the bag…. It’s ok… For something Built for the river it should have a sturdier bottom panel, I do not see this remaining water proof for that long with how thin the material is, especially when most people pack rigid plastic boxes. The padded removable inner doesnt work the best. It would be great for a laptop. Things move around and then you fight to get your main gear back in the bag. The net holder, meh…. Id rather have my net between me and the bag so I can feel if it slips out when a branch hooks it. The waterproof pocket is small, other bags i have have it is on the inside and larger, much easier to keep extra clothes dry. The shoulder straps are horrible, if you extend them fully it is hard to tighten them back up with the small tab of material left. Other bags use a loop, much easier to adjust when you’re packing up to move. Needs an external mesh pocket for stinky baits, dont need the whole bag stinking.
I am sceptical about how long it will last and i dont spend that much time on the water. If i read the reviews posted here I’d totally buy the bag and be very disappointed to the point I would wonder if those reviews are even real

We’re a little surprised by this since it varies so much from the feedback we’ve received from people here who have purchased the bag (indicated by the green Verified Purchasers check mark). If this backpack isn’t the right one for you, then you’re welcome to return it. You’ll just need to get the order number and zip code from the original purchaser to get a prepaid return label, which can be done on the returns page. As far as real reviews are concerned, most of the other reviews here are from Verified Purchasers (people who have actually purchased and used the backpack and indicated by the green checkmark), but this particular one is not confirmed as a Verified Purchase.

Excellent dry pack! Everything I need for long day hiking in and fishing it and stays dry! The removable insert helps keep your item organized. It is also very comfortable to wear while fishing and walking. I would recommend this pack over any other I have had in the past!

Just crushed the Steel in SE Alaska. My extra clothes were nice and dry and the pack was comfortable to fish in even with all the extra beer weight.

This pack is perfect. I use a Patagonia wader workstation hung on the front between the straps for my most used stuff, and throw everything else in the bag. I do a lot of walking when I fish so it’s nice to be able to carry an extra layer, food, and some beers.

Totally great in every way! I’m able to guide trips on long days with confidence that not only are my things going to stay dry, but it’s gentle on my back. The internal storage additions are nice, all the sewing and laminating are top-notch. I highly recommend this pack!

Just came back from South East Alaska. This pack did the job and kept my extra layers dry along with the ease of carrying an extra rod. Definitely comfortable on my back while I bushwhacked through the day!

Plenty of room for a full day of fishing. Very well made and extremely comfortable to wear.

This is a very nice backpack. The insert inside will fit a plano stoaway 3700 deep or regular size perfectly.

Really well thought out design and quality construction. It should serve me well for years to come.

The best pack I’ve owned. I have continued to use regular backpacks for my trips and I got tired of having to dry my gear after most of my trips. I bought this bag right before my first outing to the OP this past December and was absolutely flabbergasted. We timed it wrong (work wanted different days), the rivers were about to reach flood stage because of heavy rains. We had to cross some sections, and I actually managed to slip and fully submerge myself. To my surprise everything was as dry as when I put it in.

I received this as a present for Christmas 2019 and love it. I had been using a Orvis sling pack which I really liked because it is comfortable and functional. However, it is not waterproof and I always prefer backpacks with two straps to a single strap for when I am doing more hiking. I have used it a couple times and works great for on the stream. The removable insert is a lot bigger then I thought it was. Unfortunately int he picture there is nothing else to compare so you can quite see how big it is. It is roughly (10-1/2″X16″) so you can fit a lot in there. I put my multi tool indicators, split shot, leaders, and tippet. It’s also got a padded sleeve so you could even put a laptop in there depending on the size of your laptop. The bottle holders on both side are key (I was volunteering for PHW and was able to hold onto my water bottle and the veteran’s water). Also the straps have a buckle so you can easily access your backpack on the stream. Dryft did a good video on some of the features so you should definitely watch it. I used this on a trip where it rained all day and everything stayed dry. I can’t wait to go back out so I can use it again. I feels like very sturdy construction and I have no concerns taking this through some brushy areas.

When I was in the market for a pack to take steelhead fishing in the winter making sure it would keep my gear dry was number one priority. Before purchasing this pack I had no previous experience with Dryft or their products. With out being able to see/touch this pack in person the purchase was a leap of faith. When it arrived I was immediately blown away at how rugged the material feels. Straight up bombproof. I love the dual zipper on the front which shockingly can hold way more than I had expected. The padding on the back doesn’t hold water when submerged which is also huge! love the idea of mesh water bottle side pockets. Why don’t more companies off that??? I see the newer version of this pack has some daisy chain attachment points on it which I would absolutely love to have on my older version but it’s still awesome with out. The rod holding straps are great and super sturdy. This is my only experience with the gear Dryft makes and to say the least I’m a fan and want to spread the word as much as possible. With a backpack this rugged it makes me want to check out their waders as well. For $150 I’ll take this over other Roll top bags (of lesser quality) and the day they create a zip top bag I’ll be the first to buy that as well. Keep up the good work!

I was born and raised in SW Alaska where I make my home and also guide. I decided to try the pack as I used the waders for a season of guiding and loved the comfort and durability. To say I’m a big fan is an understatement, as this pack did all that it was supposed to and more. I use this pack for fly outs to small streams where we hike to locations and a good fitting pack is a must. What I like most about it is the shoulder straps and how much support they have. They are wide enough to destribute the load without digging in and fit my wide shoulders much better than the other competitors packs. Carrying extra water and lunches for two clients along with all the rods, sat phone, reels, fly boxes, and safety equipment is easily done with this pack and the design makes it comfortable all day long. As soon as a hip pack is available I’m in for that as well. Thanks for a quality product and amazing customer service.

I’m a California living flyfisherman but born and raised in Bellingham, WA where Dryft has roots. I’ve been following Dryft products for a while and decided to pull the trigger on this waterproof backpack. I tried on many others including the fishpond, and patagonia stormfront. Great packs but the Dryft has features I couldn’t say no to. 1.) I’m able to carry water and coffee in yeti bottles via the bottle holders on side without taking off pack. Score. 2.) love the exterior pocket with 2 zips separate from main compartment. Great for extra flyboxes or easy reach items. 3.) Excellent insert in main compartment to load up night before. I hold extra reel, tippet, gear, valuables, etc. All stays dry. 4.) Rod tube holder is great and awesome for going to into backcountry with 2 rods. I will be using this primarily steelheading while wading and on my pontoon boat. I recommend this pack, as I just used in down pour and bushwhacking. Bulletproof and dry so far. Lastly, you can’t beat the price compared to other major brands. Thanks Dryft.
