Why choose the Primo Zip GD Wader?

Designed with comfort in mind, the Primo Zip GD waders use a high quality TIZIP® main zipper to help take the production out of mid fishing session bathroom breaks, and makes getting in and out of your favorite pair of waders oh so easy. The strong and durable four-layer lower from the waist down includes a single vertical seam design with seams running up the outside of the legs to eliminate seam abrasion when walking. The burly heavyweight four-layer lower joins a comfortable lighter three-layer upper with plenty of secure storage pockets on the outside and inside, including a media pocket and dual large drop in pockets. Adjustable straps, belt, and upper drawstring let you dial in the fit, and flexible knees give freedom of movement allowing you to walk, run, crouch, wade, stumble, and crawl easily without restricted movement. Zippered fleece-lined hand warming pockets double as extra storage, and an adjustable Comfortflex™ semi-stretch wading belt, a nylon webbing non-stretch wading belt, and storage bag are included.

What about staying dry?

Breathable, 20,000mm DWR coated waterproof fabrics combined with NoLeak™ double taped seams bring the waterproofing to the next level. To top it off, seam ends and edges are triple taped throughout the legs to keep the water where the fish are.

With an MSRP of $499 the Primo Zip GD waders stand above any feature comparable wader on the market when comparing price to features.

  1. JARRID DAWDY (verified owner)

Great waders, I’m very happy with the quality of materials used and adequate seam tape inside of the waders on key points is nice. I’ve been fishing 1-2 full days a week in these waders since they arrived quickly, by mail a few months ago and so far no leaks! The lined pockets are warm for cold hands and the front zipper is the way to go when you have layers on in winter for a quick and hastle free pee. Maintain the zipper and clean the mud off before hanging the waders to dry, easy. Hopefully these stand up to years of fishing like my other waders did. Can’t beat these for the price point though being a lot cheaper than the next best thing. I have just some feedback on the gravel guard, around the stocking foot could be a few inches longer as it doesn’t reach the D-ring on my boots. 9/10

  2. Craig Nakagawa

I ordered the waders on Sunday and got them Tuesday using normal delivery. Wow and thx! As for the waders, they are the best waders I’ve ever had. I’ve had waders from the usual companies – Simms, Patagonia, Reddington, etc. – but never one of the “guide” models. I considered Simms G3s but decided on the Dryft Primo based on features and cost. First, yes, the zipper. Always wanted one. And, I wanted something that would last. But, what really stood out was the fit. These are waders made for athletes. I used to be a climber and am not as svelt as in days past, but I’m still pretty active. The Primo in small is perfectly sized for me and when you look at yourself in the mirror, you look like you’re ready some river miles. I’ve had waders that fit more like you’re wearing a parachute. I was also a bit wary of the look of the waders (potentially gaudy?), but when you have them on, they look great. Fitted and tough. I just took them out of the box, so obviously haven’t used them yet, but I expect they’ll be bombproof. Thx Dryft!

  3. Daniel Wenzel (verified owner)

Everything about dryft zip waders is top of the line, the customer service is great. My only complaint is the delivery company, it’s fed ex and they are the pits. Never on time. Always delays. But do yourself a favor and try the primo zip. They’re awsome.

  4. Rick Wiita

Recieved the Primo Zip GD Waders as soon as they came back in stock. Been using the ever since. Fit is great. Appear to be built hell for stout. No leaks so far. Love all the pockets so don’t need to carry a pack for day fishing. The front zip is awesome and the price point is better than any other brand I have looked at.

Customer service is as good as it gets. Thank you Nick.

  5. John Platt (verified owner)

I wanted to wait for awhile until I had a few trips on my new Zip Waders before I left a review. I’ve got at least a half dozen outings with over 40 hours on them so I feel like I can give them a fair assessment.

Overall they are awesome, the few things I would like to change are not significant and would not keep me from buying them again. In fact, I prefer boot foot when in a drift boat or when steelhead fishing in winter and if they come out with a set I will buy them ASAP.

The materials and craftsmanship are excellent. The zipper is great, if you are wondering if zippers are a good idea (I was) the answer is yes! They’re worth having. Fit is good. It’s all good.

If I were suggesting changes here is what I would ask for:

    1. Make the outer pockets both expandable and waterproof.
    2. Take the grippy stuff off the bottom of the bootfoot, it grabs and bunches when I slide my boot on.
    3. Make the storage bag bigger.
    4. Make the net holder a D ring instead of a loop.

That’s it really. Overall these waders are excellent, regardless of the price. The fact that they are less than the competition just makes them that much better.

  6. Frank Inserra (verified owner)

I just received my new waders and the quality and fit are fantastic. Finally a pair of waders that fit my feet. I’m a little larger in the middle , probably too many IPA’s after fishing. Can’t wait to hit the Salmon River in Sept. I also have to report that the people at Dryft are the nicest and most courteous group I have ever met. They made my experience worth the price and the wait. Tight Lines Thanks Frank

  7. John Grant

Used this past winter in Montana and recently for a week fishing in an Alaska river. I was totally dry, including my feet. The zipper is a fantastic accessory. All of the guides were using a well known brand and their feet were wet. I highly recommend Dryft.

  8. Keith (verified owner)

I fish in the upper great lakes, mostly for steelhead, I’ve had a few pairs of zippered waders but all seem to leak, these primos seem well constructed and durable, I look forward to many years of using them!

  9. Eric Candelaria (verified owner)

I bought a pair of the Primo Guide Edition waders this last winter. This is a switch from the wader company in Bozeman for many years.
Here in Missoula fishing is getting under way for the year and I’ve been able to get out and test them out this past few weeks. Great fit and a rugged build, the zippers and pockets are definitely top of the line. I really appreciate that these waders seem to be built by someone who knows what we need. I do believe you have a new very loyal customer. I’m sure the other guides and people fishing with us will want to know more!

  10. Tom Zimorski

Received mine in a timely manner. Bought XL based upon the shoe size so the length and girth is a little large but no worries. Used them for the first time today. Worked well and no concerns whatsoever. The front zipper may be the best aspect – putting them on/taking them off is very easy. Like the choice of belts and the roominess which permits ease of movement when bending and kneeling. Customer service is top notch.

  11. Ken

originally bought the large based on the size chart but the chest area was way too bulbous….like an upside down petticoat. Sent these back for the medium long which fit perfectly. Completely waterproof. Zipper great. Included two belts…one stretchy, the other not (for more safety). Got these at the recommendation of a friend who uses DRYFT waders exclusively. Neoprene feet fit very well. Very happy with my purchase

  12. James Bessette (verified owner)

I can’t say anything but good about these waders . I got them in January I’ve used them a couple times before the waters froze over, in -15 degree Celsius weather . The customer service from nick was also top notch!

  13. Cory D. (verified owner)

Fully impressed. Comfy. Well fitting. Warm. Tough as f-all. I’m stoked with the decision to try something new.

So far, very impressed. I received my waders quickly and was happy with the look and fit of them. Been out 3 times so far and no leaks. I will report back in a few years for a durability review.

  15. Steve Erickson

Love these waders! First pair I’ve ever bought. Saw friends buy cheap waders from the brick and mortar stores that didn’t hold up. I prefer quality. Did my research, and wanted to support the local guys. First time out was surf fishing the Washington Coast. Paired with a pair of Korkers. Another local company. I came away with zero complaints! Customer service is some of the best I’ve ever experienced. Nick was awesome to deal with. Very fast response to any question I had. Can’t wait for the Wading Jacket to come into stock. I will definitely be buying from these guys in the future.

  16. B. Wiggins (verified owner)

Excellent waders! Very high quality and construction! I have had the Simms G4Z waders and I like the fit of the Primo better and believe that the quality is every bit as good as the Simms. The Primo Zip Wader is as good as any wader on the market today with an exceptional price.

  17. Ryan Bruce (verified owner)

I have been running these for about 2 months now. I have absolutely zero complaints thus far.

    5’ 10”
    175 lbs
Primo Zip guide wader- medium long.

I went with the long version because in the past it seems that I will have waders that tear along the sand/gravel guard at the seam. This has fixed that issue for me where I feel constricted and not fighting for movement.

These have been my favorite pair of waders I have fished in. They are very comfy, and have tons of space to hold gear in. I haven’t had any trouble with the waterproof zippers at this point either which was a concern of mine. But it’s a game changer being able to relieve your self with little effort and not having to layer down. The construction is solid and the customer service is down right awesome. I would suggest these to anyone looking to step game up and get into a high quality wader for around half the price. Keep doing your thing DRYFT y’all have something special. Thanks for giving back to the community and making dependable, quality waders affordable for us average Joe’s.

  18. Joe Medeiros (verified owner)

Company is helpful and shipping is fast. Love this gear. Very comfortable and reliable. Keeps me dry and warm. It is quality material. Everything about theses products are awesome!! I bought these a couple months ago and have recommended it to some many people.

  19. Mike Depace (verified owner)

I order the new primo zip waders. I had a few questions about size and suggested size for me, I was stuck between a ML and a L. I emailed dryft and asked them for suggestions on which they think would work better for me. Within the hour nick responded to me and I ended up goin with the Large. But the real customer service came when I noticed after the second day my order still wasn’t processed so I emailed nick back and literally within the hour he responded and got my order processed and told he he was going to shipped them overnight for the inconvenience. ( I didn’t email them complain I just wanted to know when my order was going to be processed) but thanks to nick and the dryft team I’m going to get on the water ASAP. I don’t even have my waders yet but I am blown away with the customer service. And for that alone I will never buy any other pair of waders. Thank you nick and the dryft team for having outstanding customer service

  20. Thomas Hoogkamer (verified owner)

I have just worn them in the house and they sure fit and feel excellent. Can’t wait to try them in the water. Quick shipping on the order.

  21. Itow (verified owner)

I bought a pair of these as a gift for a good friend of mine early 2019. The first time we fished together I got jealous and wanted a pair but did not want to look like twins on the water. Eventually I just gave up on the twins issue and bought a pair a few weeks ago. They fit amazing and you can adjust them in the waist and chest to customize your size and for the weather. I first took them out 3 days straight 10 hours a day and they lived up to my jealousy. Comfortable and enough pockets to hold the gear I needed for the day without having to carry a pack. I have never had a zip front either, but now I will never not have one. It is crucial for the long days. Another plus is the color. I am pretty sick of tan on tan waders that are pretty much the only things available. Keep it up Dryft you guys are gonna change the industry.

  22. Brisn (verified owner)

I have a small foot 9 1/2, and have trouble finding waders that fit well and don’t have a huge bootie that gets all bunched up in the boot. The zip-front is a godsend for when nature calls. Love that I don’t have to completely disrobe to take a whiz.
Have held up well so far and have plenty of pockets for gear, phone, wallet, etc.

  23. Mark Kish (verified owner)

Have only worn once for fall steelheading, but so far they are comfortable, allow for a lot of movement, they feel durable but not to stuffy or hot, and the customer service when a had questions was fantastic

  24. Peter Atkinson

GREAT company, GREAT pair of waders! Have had many pairs of waders by different manufactures and no other manufacture can touch the quality and price of these waders! Fit is great and zipper makes releasing the Kraken easy as well as getting on/off the waders. Feel like they are made to last and if for some reason you do have a problem, customer service is TOP NOTCH!!!!! Every email I sent Dryft was answered within an hour. I will continue to buy their products.

  25. Jon

I’ve only had the Primo zips for a few weeks now, and I’ve only fished them 4 times, but they seem very tough, and they are quite comfortable. I like my waders on the baggy side because most of my fishing is done in the colder steelhead months, and the XL’s are a good fit for a guy who formerly wore LK in Simms. The only thing I do not like is the bright chartreuse zippers, and I tend to carry everything I need in the pockets, so they get a little full on the inside. Might be time for a pack. I am sure they will bring me a couple dry seasons. As with all waders that get dragged through brush and blackberry brambles, I’m sure they will need patching at some point, and I wish there were some how-to’s online of how to do that with non-GoreTex material.

  26. Kash Hanson (verified owner)

Best waders I have ever had and backed by amazing customer service. I highly recommend these over Simms.

  27. Dr. Richard Burrows (verified owner)

This is my second set of Dryft waders. The first is 3 years old and not leaking a drop. I fish all summer for trout and all winter for Steelhead, so quality is extremely important. After leaks in other more expensive waders, I tried my first pair of Dryfts – they have exceeded my expections. I love them, and they always keep me dry.

  28. Justin A. Tate (verified owner)

I have been looking for new zip front waders for awhile now. Love Simms but the $850 price tag was too much. A friend told me about Dryft, so I started looking. Talked to Nick at Drfyt a few times and decided to try them out. I got the combo Primo Zip Front and the SEEKR Wading Pants. The fit and finish is top shelf, fit perfectly and have performed flawlessly, not to mention the price was right. The combo was $100 less than just the Simms. I will not go back to the big two, thats for sure.

  29. ambodesign (verified owner)

I have no option for a sixth or seventh star otherwise that would have been my rating !!!
Excellent product yes but customer service is way up there.

  30. Talon Parke

I cannot say enough about the quality of Dryft gear and the level of their customer service. They stand behind their products and take care of their customers. I am not one to leave reviews for anything but based on my interactions with this company, their products, and their team, it is 100% necessary. I have used the original zip front waders for around 4 years now. I wore them in the deserts of Arizona hiking into rivers and streams through palo verde trees and cactus. I wore them throughout Missouri hiking through thick brambles and brush. And I have used them extensively throughout idaho chasing trout, steelhead, and salmon around sharp and jagged rocks and all sorts of thorny berry and rose bushes and these things have held up. I had a hiccup with the zipper and these guys were right on it and helped me get back on the water. If you are reading this and are in the market for waders, these are the ones to choose. They have every bit of quality of any of the big name brands if not more and they are offered at a fraction of the cost. These guys and these products are incredible.

  31. Kev

I rarely leave a review for anything. These are the absolute best waders I have ever owned. Highly Recommend!

  32. SCOTT WEBBER (verified owner)

Absolutely love my new waders. Forget the high priced Simms and Patagonia waders these waders are built to last. Super comfortable and love the design. The customer service and support was absolutely outstanding. I’m gonna order the wading jacket next. Dryft keep up it, your doing an excellent job!

  33. Barry Burt (verified owner)

I’m on my 3rd. pair of Dryft waders. My first 2 pair of S14 Adrenalines both lasted over 3-4 seasons of real abuse. I fish coastal steelhead streams that are a jungle of brush and berry bushes. I wanted to order my 3rd pair to finish out this last season but they wouldn’t have my size in until May so I went with the Primo Zips that we’re in stock. After using them a mere handful of times my right leg was leaking like sieve and my belly was soaked from a leaky zipper. Contacted Nick and he said he’d get a brand new pair out to me as soon as my size came in in 2 weeks. Only problem was I had a trip to Almanor scheduled in less than a week. Nick sent a pair of last years demo Primos that had only been used once. They arrived in 2 days and when I got home from Almanor my new waders were waiting for me. You tell me where you can get customer service like that.

  34. Travis

These are great waders! I’ve had them for a couple of months now and love them. They are thick and durable but also real comfortable. I’m 6′ tall 185lbs and purchased the med tall and they fit perfect! I would highly recommend these waders and the customer service was great! Im a customer for life.

  35. Rodriquez Sandoval (verified owner)

I ordered the waders, as my first waders ever, after doing a lot of Research, Reviews, and learning about how great a product they are… as well as the customer service. I am here to say I am not disappointed one bit. I received my waders and they were a little big on me and I had wished I had ordered a size smaller but I didn’t want to wait to go fishing and I could deal with the slight baggage. After noticing some flaws after the first and couple of outings (leaks) I decided to send customer service an email. Since I was going to send out the waders for warranty purposes I asked if I could exchange the size. I got a quick reply back and they went over the top for me… they sent me my requested size understanding my mistake of ordering the wrong size and sent a return label to send the flawed waders back. The replacement waders are fantastic! No leaks… lives up to everything I have heard and read about the company and product! I will not hesitate to order from them if I want something else.

  36. William (verified owner)

Having worn, and worn through waders from the biggest names in fishing gear, and some of them not lasting one year (most years I’m on the water 300+ days), I decided to give dryft a go. I’m not disappointed in the least! From hiking into remote brookie streams, guiding on tailwaters for massive browns, and chasing stripers in the salt, these waders are pretty bomb proof so far! They fit better than any brand I have tried, admittedly I never got custom ones from simms, but Dryft offers short legs as an option, and as someone with a long torso and shorter legs I’m very happy they do! No more bunching up and extra material to get caught on things or make excessive noise on those 4 mile abandoned forest road hikes. I definitely see a pair of the wading pants in my future. Way to go Dryft, they are multiple times better than anything orvis has sold, and I worked for them once upon a time. They aren’t just for folks out west, they are great for the amazing tailwaters in Eastern TN, and keep you warm hucking fluff for musky as well!

  37. Alex Argyros

I bought the now discontinued older model, but, if the way my waders work is any indication, I’m Dryft customer for life.

My waders are, simply put, fabulous. They fit perfectly, have been through a bramble or two with no issues, and don’t leak.

But, most importantly, I can now have my coffee the morning I go fishing. The zipper works flawlessly, making my time on the stream much more pleasant than it has ever been.

  38. Sean Lacy (verified owner)

I bought Dryft as my first pair if Ip front waders and I couldn’t be more happy with them. They are durable, but still lightweight enough to walk some distance without overheating. Extremely comfortable to wear all day long either in a boat or hiking to your favorite spot. Definitely a great purchase at the price point.

  39. Craig Bruno (verified owner)

It’s been a year almost to the date from my fist trip out with the zipper front waders. About 30 days of use in the water still like new. Keeping me dry and warm. Keep your zippers waxed and clean and they will treat you well.

  40. Alex Argyros

I only recently received my Primo Zip Waders, so I can’t vouch for their longevity. However, based on one outing, I do have a few observations.

The waders are extremely well-made. They fit wonderfully and have the look and feel of a quality product.

And, more importantly, the zipper feature a game-changer for someone with a few years under his belt. I cannot overemphasize how much it enhances my fishing experience to be able to answer the call of nature without taking off half my clothes, bags, etc.

  41. Jon Bonynge (verified owner)

After about 25 dys on the river I have to say the waders are fantastic! Initially ordered the wrong size- No problem- Great customer service. Also purchased the Session pants and Long coat but have not used them much yet but the few times I have they seem to be top notch.

  42. Anthony Beua

Just wanted to start off with good customer service Fast response through email, I thank Nick for answering all my questions and trying to find out the right size that fits me best, I receive my waders and I’m loving them, I couldn’t imagine What they could hold up! I’m 5’8” 190 pounds With a little bit of a beer Belly I went with a large -short Fits excellent! I totally recommend these guys good product Thank you again!!!

  43. William Brown (verified owner)

Hands down the best waders out there… Excellent customer service !!!!

  44. Kelly (verified owner)

They had a small leak right out of box

    • Nick Satushek (verified owner)

      Hi Kelly,
I’m sorry if there was a problem with your order. While defects are rare we offer a strong warranty to protect our customers against problems like that. Please email me directly and I will set you up with a return label and we will replace your waders under warranty. My email is Thank you,

  45. Jeff Peacock

Hands down the best waders I’ve owned in 40 years of fishing. Everything is easy about these waders. Tons of pockets (almost too many- I can lose things in there!) and the quality of the materials is outstanding. I’ve used them for eleven full days on the river, climbing over and around tress and boulders- they still look brand new!
    Highly recommend these waders!

  46. George Emhoff

Got these early in the spring on advice from a steelhead fisherman. Absolutely love em!!Light weight fit your body fairly well. None of the crazy bulkiness of some of the big store brands. I was concerned about the lack of bulky insulation. I wore two pair of long underwear in early March in a partially frozen Farmington River. No cold issues.ANDi am a 55 yr old cold winer.Pockets are numerous. Best waders purchase I have ever done

  47. Craig Bruno

This is my first year with this set up so maybe 5 fishing days since Feb. waders performed as expected, zipper works well, fit is comfortable and mainly dry and warm all trips! Only complaint so far is I had a pair of Raptor Krokers and the gravel Guards start to low and are tucked in the top of the boot some. Other than that all good so far!

  48. Gryf (verified owner)

This review is late based upon when I bought the waders. I got this waders at Christmas of 2018 and put them to their first test 27-28 Apr 19 on the Upper and Middle Kenai River while chasing Rainbows. The waders are simple incredible….I tracked my miles walked and fished over 2 days….in total 22.7 miles. The waders were extremely comfortable, no seam leaks, a layer of warmth I did not anticipate….in sum I’m a convert to Dryft.

  49. Robert Thomson (verified owner)

Great waders and the customer support is just as good! Once you have waders with a zipper, you’ll never not have them again! I’m 5’8” 185 lbs with a 34” waist and the large short fit me perfect. I’d like to see options for the Velcro in pockets inside. It would be nice just to have some mesh bags for sink tips, leaders etc., the waterproof one is difficult to get in and out of. Great waders!

  50. Travis Darnell

First of all, I have dealt with a lot of wader manufactures including Simms, orvis, reddington exc.. Hands down Dryft has had the best (true to there word) warranty. I recently ordered a pair of the new s-14s and promptly received them in the mail. Unfortunately when I tried them on I noticed a very minor defect. I made a quick call to Nick from dryft, and within a few hours he had a new pair on the way. THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE! Incomparable to Simms who sent me nothing but a poster when I had a issue with a seam leaking. As far as the dryft product, I am a backcountry steelheader, and put a lot of strain on my gear. The dryfts are very comfortable to hike in with plenty of storage for pocket gear. Plus They will no doubt hold up in the bush! Finally a wader I can rely on.
    Thanks again Dryft

  51. Lev Lomansky (verified owner)

I have them over a year, I’m pretty much happy, but it wood be great to have at list one dry zipped pocket, unfortunately all four chest pockets are leaking water

  52. Dave (verified owner)

Awesome waders. I just bought 2 pair of these. Me and a buddy to fish pyramid lake Nevada. I usually purchase a set every year. Don’t think I’ll need to now. We fished 10 hours a day for 5 days straight…no complaints here. We were warm, dry, and the zipper…I would definitely recommend these. Colors are great. fit perfect. Great job guys great customer service also. Had some questions the called me back within 15 mins..I may be purchasing jacket. Plan on testing them in the Merced river next week…

Great waders. They stood up well to the Alaskan fishing trip I was just on. I hiked many river miles in these. When I went to the fly shop to purchase these they were out of my size. The salesman called Nick at Dryft and he shipped me the size I needed. The waders arrived in two days like he said they would. Great service and a great product. Wish they had a boot fooot though.

Took my new zip front waders out for the first time yesterday for a day of kick boating on our favorite reservoir. I mostly kick boat these days for a variety of reasons, bigger fish in lakes, less crowds and did I mention bigger and MORE fish? Anyway these waders are perfect for the multi taster in many of us. How so, you may ask? Well, if you are a kick boater or pontoon fisher you will catch MORE fish with these waders…I hear the smirks already..just pay attention. Yesterday as I was trolling around catching all kinds of fish, the sudden urge to Release the Kraken came upon me ( happens with us older guys)…So WHILE I was fishing I was able to bring down the zipper, take care of business and carry on….while doing this I observed another fisherman in a kick boat with obviously inferior waders make his way all the way to shore to go through the weeds, muck and guck to finally drop his waders all the way to his knees to relieve himself…what a WOT!
I never stopped fishing in fact I think I got a couple of strikes while I had out the Red Wiggler…!

So in summary, great waders, quick shipping (2 days). dry feet (thank the lord) and YOU WILL CATCH MORE FISH! Cheers!!

All I can say is GREAT WADERS! I bought these last week and wasn’t expecting them until after Memorial Day. I ordered them on 8/30 and arrived 9/1. Great service. Went to the Logan River here in UT and caught a nice Cutthroat. Worked FLAWLESSLY. Thanks Dryft for a great product at a great price

Best waders i have ever owned. The zipper front offers easy on and off. Wore them thru heavy brush in Sun and rain with no leaks . The sizing chart is dead on so no worries in the fit dept. Well worth the price.

This is an update from a purchase in April 2016. About three seasons in. You could say they have seen the water for 5 seasons as much as I fish compared to my peers; a good 30 outings a year. The only visible wear is the bottom of the gravel guards are frayed, (boot lace strap to hold them down still works great) and the black tape that covers the seam in the neoprene booties is slowly peeling away. Just normal wear and tear. Other than that, they look brand new. They do not leak. The zipper does not leak. Not one seam leaks. I go through all kinds of brush, sit on rocks, kneel in the water. Anything. They are very well made. You will know when you get them that they are solid. They are no different in the summer from my old lighter pair from Cabelas that ended up leaking in the crotch after two years. When (If?) these waders fail, I will buy another pair. I’m glad to see there are more reviews. Three years ago I was only 1 out of 4. I love using that zipper on the creek!. You will not be sorry to buy these! Except three years ago they were 350$!!

The Dryft primo zip front waders have replaced my Simms G3s as my go to waders. I’ve fished them for two full seasons now. I love them and have close to 150 days on the waders. They’re great so far. I have noticed some wear on the inside lining. Especially around the removable pouch. They hold up well through brush and even devils club. I would recommend them to anyone interested!

Been a SIMMS G3 guy for the last 9 years. Saw the DRYFT zip ups with basically same warranty and better quality. Love em’ so far.

I have been wearing the Primo on cold winter trips, high water days, and full day hike trips since right around the time Dryft released them. They have always functioned perfectly and the features make fishing fun and easy. However, on my most recent trip, I went down full submersion on a river crossing twice with a backpack and two flyrods in hand in waist deep current. With my wading belt and the top drawstrings tight, I made it to the river bank without any gear loss, stripped to dump my waders and discovered that I had only taken on enough water to soak my pants about halfway down. I threw the pants in my pack and continued to fish for 5 hours without any issue. Excellent design, durable function, and in my opinion, the best waders on the market for those who fish hard.

Bought these Dec. 2018. I love these waders. I have only used them a handful of times and can’t speak to any warranty or how long they will last. I’ve used Hodgman, Allen, and various Cabelas brands in the past. I was having a hard time thinking of having to spend $700/$800 for similar types of waders before hearing about Dryft. I have several buddies in the fishing industry that have Dryft waders and they all had great things to say about them. I appreciated the higher level of sizing options so you aren’t stuck with the “standard” medium, large, xl, etc… a lot of times leaving extra material in legs, feet, or chest for more of a one size for all. The boot fit is great. The inseam allows for bending over and sitting without extra bunching. The chest is perfect for layering underneath. I’ve received quite a few compliments on the waders and one person asked if they were custom fit (no). The pocket options and zippers are great. I’m really appreciating the center zip option and not having to dress down to take a quick whizz (finally). The type of material and thickness of material is durable, but still very mobile and breathable. I also bought the wading jacket with these and it is fricken awesome as well.

Bought my Girlfriend a set of these and i bought the wadding pants for myself used them on the Deshutes and Metolius last weekend and we both chose to throw are simms out.

  64. Joshua Low

I fish hard. Bushwack through brush, hike miles, freezing temps, saltwater ect. Not only do these waders hold up through it all, they are comfortable and allow for excellent movement.

The warranty and customer service I’ve received from dryft has been outstanding. Quick email response times. Quick handling time, everything you’d expect and more from an awesome company.

I bought the Primo Zip Front waders late last year, in time for Steelhead season here in Northern California. I received them right away. No problem there. I was over all very impressed. Went out right away and fished in them. Zip Front very cool. I stayed nice and warm and dry. So far, so good. The next day I went out again. I went to put my licence in the little flip out pocket, went to zip it up and the zipper slider came right off. No big deal really, it doesn’t really effect how the warders work, everything else seems to be fine. Other fisherman are always asking about them. One guy said ” I didn’t know Simms made black waders”. I told him what they were and that they were great.( I didn’t mention the zipper)
Overall they seem to be a solid pair of waders. I’ll wait for Steelhead session to end and send them back to see how your customer service is.

    • Nick Satushek

Thanks for leaving a review, and sorry to hear about the zipper slider breaking on the flip out pocket. We’ll definitely take care of that for you. At your convenience please email us or view our warranty information on our website and we’ll take care of it for you. Thank you!

This waders are awesome! I cannot see a reason to spend 700.00 to 800.00 for just a pair of waders from other companies out there, I love mine so much a got a pair with the jacket as well. I also got the set for my wife, I purchased a size small for her and they fit her perfect and still she has room to layer for those cold days we have during the winter months.
I totally will recommend to friends and family. Another selling point was this company is here in my home state, shipping was super fast and I’m sure if I ever had to return something it would be no problem.

I got the kracken waders and primo jacket with the face mask combo for christmas. I was super stoked on them. Went fishing and they were pretty amazing. I would recommend them to anyone looking to buy any $800 zip up wader. The only thing i didnt like was the fact after my wife purchased them at the “holiday sale price” they went down in price after the new year for the same combo deal. Other then that they are awesome. Stay warm and dry all day.

I have been search for front zip waders and not wanting to spend $800 to own a pair! I couldn’t be any more pleased not only saving over $400 but the quality is $800 itself! The customer service is just as amazing as well! Purchasing another pair from Dryft in the spring!

Very Very Very Impressed!!!!! Tried my Primo Front Zipped Waders for the first time this weekend on the Texas Coast. I was truly amazed with the fit and comfort as well with the easy mobility I had. The Pockets and D rings are fabulous and I can really tell that a lot of time and research went into the design. I can’t say enough of the quality, design & comfort this offers for the Price. Kudos Dryft!!!!!

I’m from the Toronto area in Canada. These wader are great! They shipped fast even to Canada. The front zipper is awesome and the sizing chart was bang on. I’ve never bought waders online before, so I was a bit worried about sizing and quality. But when the arrived I was blown away at the quality and craftsmanship of this product. The price was awesome as well. I will most likely be ordering the wader jacket soon as well. Such a comfortable product and super durable.

    Thank you

As an 80 year-old trout and Atlantic salmon fisherman, I have been wearing out and buying waders for over 60 years. Just recently, a Maine guide and friend of mine (Mark Danforth), recommended I try the DRYFT Primo Zip-front waders. I did, and tried them out on the Miramichi this October(2017). What a grand surprise! The Primo Zip front is by far the best waders I have used regardless of price. The fit is perfect, the comfort luxury, the zipper flawless, and they are actually easy to put on and take off! What else can an old guy ask for? I thank DRYFT for producing them and Mark Danforth for recommending them. I will next try them on some heavy tail waters here in Tennessee with a friend of mine, who is also in the market for a new pair of waders. You don’t have to guess which waders I will recommend.

    • Nick Satushek

      Hi Albert,
We’re glad to hear the Primo zip front waders are working well for you. Fish on!

The delivery time was super quick after I ordered the waders. I used the sizing chart and the fit is great. The DRYFT Zip Front are so comfortable and so easy to get in and out of and they don’t leak! I highly recommend them!!

Since buying these have fished the caney fork river in Tennessee the water runs 55 degrees… I wear them
In and out of the water their so comfortable I leave them on even when we go to eat or buy more fishing lures… I literally sit , bend or even kneel down in these like their just a pair of pants( fun to watch kyakers think I’m in deep water when kneeling to hid my reflection from trout then stand up when they get beeched).
I never get binding and have walked many miles in these through brush as well… the outside pockets promotes as hand warmers is a very far stretch as they hold water after your chest deep…. defiantly not going to keep hands warm… the inside flip out pockets are nice I can hold my cigar carrier in one and my IPhone 6s+ in the media pouch…. the shoulder straps are adjustable as to spread the weight away from my neck…. I do wish the belt had some sort of clip I could attach it to when I unzip the waders for a break as it likes to pull out from the loops… many say they look like guide waders… I don’t care about looks but like these over the many tan and browns I see out there when fishing.

Looked around at the various manufacturers waders with zip fronts – some were a little frail in construction and others were ridiculously expensive. I was unable to view the DRYFT waders as I live in the UK. And ordering online, a product you’ve not seen, is risky at the best of times, but I was also ordering for use on a forthcoming trip to Cape Cod!

However, the waders were at my pick up point waiting for me. Great. Not so great was the fact that I’d erred on the larger inside leg (the foot sizing suited my shoes size) and they were way too long. Contacted DRYFT and asked about ordering the next size down and being able to try both incase the re-order foot size was too small. Have to say absolutely top notch customer service. I had a reply within a couple of hours saying no problem. Paid for the second pair and they were with me within a couple of days (luckily I could borrow a pair of waders to wear meantime) returned the orginal pair (obviously unused) and my account was credited within a few days.

So very impressed with the customer service, and, now I’ve worn and used my Primo Zip-front waders I can say I am just as impressed with them. Good fit (the foot size was fine) and comfortable, nicely thought out layout for pockets, and robust construction. Happy to recommend this product and manufacturer.

I have a hard time buying things unseen. The DRYFT Primo Zipfront waders are amazing. Hands down these are the best waders I have owned. Buying these waders online is not a mistake. Great quality, excellent fit, light weight, and more comfortable than expected. Well worth the money. You won’t regret it, I don’t!

It took me a while to decide to buy these waders – its was a leap of faith for me since I had never seen a pair in the flesh but the reviews I read were good. So far I have been really impressed with these waders – the construction is very solid. I have probably fished them 12+ days since I received them. They slip through briar thickets far better than I would have imagined. I honestly don’t think they have been snagged or hung up on any thorns yet which amazes me because I’ve crashed through a lot of thickets already and I’m not overly careful when I go through them – I’m a big dumb animal (but not clumsy). The outer layer sheds water readily so they don’t hold any water to speak of, or subsequently take much time to dry (a small fraction of the time my old ones took). The neoprene feet are thicker than my old waders so I had to retire a pair of Simms boots before I lost a toe nail, but I think that was more of an issue with the dimensions of those boots (snug toe box).

I’m 6’1″, 215lbs with size 13 feet so I purchased the XLs. Dimensionally, with the exception of my feet, I’m borderline between the Large and XL. But my XL pair fits comfortably and there is plenty of room for extra layers (which I haven’t had to do yet) or in the event I balloon up 20lbs. They are warm without being noticeably hotter than any other waders I have had. I was concerned about the darkness of the fabric, with respect to heat, but that seems like it is a non-issue.

Shipping was really quick. I don’t think there is anything I can add about the zipper, pockets, or other features that hasnt already been said – they are great waders.

  77. Tony Perpignano (verified owner)

So far I am really liking these waders a lot. Out the box they perform as well as the expensive waders. My only mistake was that I should have ordered a Large Short. I am average height and weight (6′-0″) but the regular large are a bit long, but that is okay, my next pair I will order the right size. I like the way the designers arranged and thought about all the pockets, very smart…..The aesthetics are “okay”, These waders feel a little flashy to me, I am okay with subtle, but that is just a minor personal taste thing. Really no reason to buy the expensive waders anymore. Yah at this price point I will remain a customer…

I fished all spring in a pair of the DRYFT Primo Zipfront Waders. They have held up fantastically. The pocket configuration in these is excellent and extremely well thought out. The gravel guards are great and the strap and belt is very comfortable. They don’t have the usual olive drab or tan look of everybody else on the river but I kind a like that. I’ve warn lots of waders over the years from Simms Orvis, and L.L. Bean etc.. when this DRYFT pair goes I’ll replace it with anothe DRYFT product. Good job. Thanks for a great affordable advanced wader option.

Sooooo I Was in the market for some new waders and couldn’t decide on the g4z or the primo front zip . After doing tons of research I determined the primos were pretty much the exact same wader as the g4z minus the gortex material and were half the price .

I decided to Order a pair of primos , shipping was insanely fast and the waders are AWESOME!!!! I’m super impressed with the quality and can’t believe I don’t see these waders out on the rivers here in Colorado more ?! I’m a very avid angler here in Colorado so these waders will get tons of use and exposure. Definitely excited to put these to the test this upcoming year If everything goes to plan i will be ordering a jacket to match the waders .

Update to my original review! I’ve been wearing the Primo zip front wader and jacket now for a month! The weather has been in the low teens to upper 20’s with a strong east wind almost every day! I have remained comfortable in this gear! Definitely worth every penny!

!!!!!BEST OF THE BEST!!!!! I have tried many, many different kinds of waders at variable prices. First let talk comfort. Super comfortable fit, not to tight not to loose. I can move around and not fee bunched up or feel like i’m swimming in them. I fish the Oregon coast , and surrounding rivers, South Umpqua , North Umpqua, Main Umpqua. At times these rivers get very cold in the winter like right now. These new Dryft Primo front zip waders are by far hands down the best I’ve seen. Thanks to the quality of material they keep me very warm. I fish around a ton of structure from. Sticker bushes, branches, rocks. I have tested these waders in extreme conditions after to find not a single nick or tear in them. This is the quality am I am talking about.
Lets talk accessibility and convenience. Like many waders most have a pocket or two. The Dryft Primo front zip waders have many pockets, including a completely waterproof inside detachable pouch that is perfect for your phone or fishing license. Not mention my Ultimate favorite The FRONT T-ZIP. ))))) RELEASE THE KRAKEN ZIPPER ((((((
like I have said I have worn many different types of waders. And I’m my personal and professional opinion the Dryft Primo front zip waders are hands down the BEST of the BEST. Do yourself a favor before buying a different type of wader. Buy These you wont regret it.

Bought these the first of December for Washington State winter steelhead fishing! They are warm and seem to be well constructed which is great because I travel through all kinds of brush to get to the fishing holes.

These are terrific waders at any price, but are a great value at $379. I’m 5′ 10″, 170 lbs and the mediums fit well with plenty of room to move comfortably. Well designed for functionality, tough and warm, I specifically got these waders for the zip front feature. I am 65 yrs old and do a lot of fishing in an Outcast float tube, in which you sit pretty high and out of the water. Being able to easily “release the kracken” with these waders is a godsend to me and my aging plumbing. Great waders, great price. Keep up the good work.

This front zip waders are fantastic for the very confrontable and have plenty of pockets for your gear and belongings. Very warm inside so no worries there. For the money these are more then worth it and would recommend them to everybody.

Always had Simms, but didnt want to pay $800 bucks for front zip. The Dryft waders are high quality with all the functions of the top end Simms waders but half the cost. I also like the color scheme. The fit is great, im 5’8″ and the small fit perfect. the booties are about a size 9 i would say. Wading belt is designed to stay in place with enough loops so It dosent fling around like other waders ive had. 4 front pockets and i can hold everything i need in them, from full size tacky box, to cell phone, beer koozies, walki talki, whisky flask, car keys, etc. etc.

I had a pair of the s-14 which I loved but ordered a pair of the zip front waders for my wife she loved them so much I decided to upgrade to the zip front wow these are perfect for a 55 year old guy you don’t have to completely undress to pee thank you

Five years ago, I moved from gods country, for those of you who don’t know where that is.. it’s found in the great state of Texas. I decided that I needed to get a pair of waders after a near death experience in the Puget Sound, I didn’t have waders and stood in the awesomely cold water for way too long, well at least until I couldn’t feel my feet. Then I purchased a pair of waders that sprung a leak, now I won’t mention the brand of those waders but let’s just say that my simms have been forgiven. Now I will say this, my near death experience times 2, was due to me (Texan) not wanting my buddies believing that I was freezing by proverbial buttocks off, due to the amount of water that I was taking on in my waders. As hypothermia was knocking at my door I decided that it would be best to move to a warmer area. I did, water getting in was easy, water getting out was not so easy. I struggled to get my waders off and longed for a pair of waders that I could just simply zip off! After struggling with what seemed to me a really long time, shivering and trying to get waders full of water off make for pretty good comedy, I assure you of that.
Being the really smart guy that I am I decided I needed insulated waders. You know, cause the water is so stinking cold that you just drop your beer in the river and it becomes a frosty beverage. These insulated waders caused this poor ole country boy to well, sweat at a rate that should only occur under two circumstances. One, a hot Texas summer and two… well I’ll leave that to your imagination. So, I did what any good American would do. I got my smart phone out and asked siri…naw. Really, I saw an ad, let it sink in for a while. Read these great reviews that told me how much they loved the waders ect.
So, I figured my 5th set of waders in as many years, it was worth to just to see if they (DRYFT) could do the job. I have to admit, I was excited as a school girl who just made the choir when the package came. The mail man was not to thrilled that I was about to take off my blue jeans and try these on at the post box! No, I really didn’t try them on at the post box. I tossed them in the truck and promptly headed out to the lake to fish. When I put them on it was nice to know that if I needed to I could get them off in a tight situation. I was worried about the zipper, but I spent the better part of an hour with the zipper submerged and not a leak. When nature called after a few adult beverages, well I don’t have to tell you how convenient the zipper was. So, all in all. I lov’em! Good job boys, y’all did good!! I hope that folks make it through this review and at least see that you make one hell of a product.

Thanks so much for leaving a review Shawn. It sounds like these zip fronts were a long time coming, and glad we could help you out!

I came across the DRYFT brand when I was searching for me next pair of chest waders. I fish 150 days a year and I have definitely gone through my fair share of waders. I was looking for something very durable, something that looked good, and would fit well so I wouldn’t look like every other guy out there in khaki parachute pants. I decided to give these waders a shot because not only did the specs all seem to point to a quality product… but they just look bad ass. I have had these waders about a week and a half and have fished with them 3 times and although I can’t speak to their longevity yet… I can say this is the most impressed I have ever been with a wader. they look awesome, every aspect of the wader fits great from the feet to the chest. For such a durable product I was shocked with how comfortable they are and how much flexibility they afford when crouching, kneeling, or stepping over logs. Oh.. and pockets… soooo many pockets!! I have already decided that I will almost never bring my pack with me again unless I will be hiking and need to bring clothes, or food, etc. These bad boys can fit plenty of gear for a day on the river no sweat! Overly impressed. Great job guys.

I was in the market for a new pair of zipper waders. I loved my first pair from cabelas, and knew my next pair had to have a zipper. I always gotta wizz while I’m in the middle of the creek and the convenience of the zipper is unrivaled. So I shopped around and chose to buy these. Right out of the box you will notice they are very durable, well made, and look awesome. The button on the top of the waders is a great feature which keeps the waders together and in turn takes much stress off the zipper during unzipping and zipping; something my last pair didnt have. I would have to use two hands to unzip. Now only one is needed. The media pocket is water proof and its velcroed on so you can pull the entire pocket off the waders. I like that. The belt is really nice, and so are all the other mentioned features. I would not however recommend these waders to someone who lives in a hot climate, or only fishes in the summer. I do not know from personal experience yet, as its early spring, but I suspect they will be hot. But even cheaper, lighter waders are still hot. Just something to think about. I fish every season so I’ll get my money out of them, and they are made good.

I recently purchased a pair of The Primo Zip-Front waders. They just happen to show up for the start the the steelhead run here in Northern Indiana. The waders are great. I stayed cool and comfortable on long walks getting back to less fished areas. I stayed nice and comfortable for hours in the cold waters. There are plenty of pockets to store items. I like that my iPhone 6S+ fits nicely in the inside waterproof pocket. So far the waders have proved tough. The St. Joe river has some very slick and jagged rocks. And when nature called, the front zip made it very nice to release the Kraken. At $349, these waders are a helluva a deal. Nowadays, good quality gear is expensive. Save some dough and get yourself a pair of these.

The new Dryft Primo Zip-Front waders have been working great for me on the rugged Southern Oregon Coast. From jagged rocks, thorn bushes and broken branches, took a slide on my backside down 15 feet of roots and mud to find no damage at all.The Primo front zip waders are top notch. The front zipper has come in extremely handy in down pours. Un zip “Release the Kraken” zip up down. The zipper is definitely water proof, have put it to the test many times. Plenty of pockets for what ever you want to carry and they are all accessible in just seconds. I would highly recommend before you buy a pair of waders that are $800 you give these a shot.
